Why Is White Sugar Not Vegan?

Why is white sugar not vegan? I have been reading online that it is not vegan. However, I have seen many recipes that include it. I just want to know why.

Most white sugar is refined by heating it until it crystallizes. The color and texture of sugar crystals have been manipulated to look like sugarcane or rock candy. This means that sugar is not vegan and is often refined using animal bone char.

It’s not 100% natural as it’s been chemically processed to remove impurities. For a more natural version of white sugar, you can use raw sugar or molasses.
